East Sussex Schools Prepare for Another Season

The East Sussex Schools Table Association secretary, Teresa Bennett, is encouraging schools to organise their team event in school sports partnership clusters again. Last season Patcham High kindly hosted the Brighton and Hove Partnership events for under 13 and 16 before they went on to the East Sussex Finals. Filsham Valley (now St Leonards Academy) hosted the Hastings and Rother area and the under 11 team event, and Bishop Bell and Tideway the South Downs Partnership area.

They will be aiming to do these 3 age groups in October and November before the finals in December.

Annual affiliation per school is just £5 and Teresa is encouraging schools to sign up by 16th September to enjoy more TT fun in the coming year.

The East Sussex Schools Table Tennis Association is holding its AGM at Filsham Valley School on Wednesday 13th July, 4.30pm. The agenda and affiliation form for next season are available by clicking here

Last season was an excellent one with three teams going to the zone finals and representing East Sussex – Patcham High Under 13 Boys, William Parker Under 16 Boys and West St Leonards Primary Under 11 Boys.

Also all East Sussex's individual winners went on to the national schools finals, with Yolanda King of St Bedes winning the U16 girls and Mark Scutts of BHASVIC runner up for the U19 Boys and Jack Bennett of Willingdon reaching the last 16 of the U16 boys and Josh Bennett of Willingdon Primary the semi-finals of the U11 boys.

From this progress there have been four national selections from East Sussex this year - a record for the county! Josh Bennett represented England schools in the British Primary international in Cardiff and won team gold, remaining unbeaten in the team event. Yolanda, Mark and Jack are all representing England schools in the senior international this weekend coming in Lilleshall.
