Not content with growing reputations as table tennis players Brighton City youngsters David Pringuer, George Tester and Paul Bergn are starting to become recognised for their coaching acumen as well. They were three of only 16 table tennis coaches to be invited to a National Young Coaches Academy organised by the Youth Sport Trust at Loughborough University recently.
The weekend of the 21st and 22nd January was one of the County Championships’ big 2011/12 weekends and as it happened turned out to be a significantly historical one for Sussex table tennis. It was the weekend for the cadet county championships and it took place at Westfield Table Tennis Club, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. We took one extra boy and our players were Lois Peake, Emma Sheen, Helshan Weerasinghe, Jack and Josh Bennett and Daniel Pound.

94 children from six schools made for the biggest and best ever Horsham area primary schools table tennis team championships at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre yesterday. With a skills event and the matchplay events being run in four banded sections there was plenty of opportunity for success to be shared around and Heron Way, Warnham and Kingslea schools were the chief beneficiaries of that fact.
The South East Region is holding an Open / Assessment Day on Sunday 12th February from 10:00am - 16:00pm at Angley School, Cranbrook, Kent.
The third of this year’s Sussex Circuit tournaments was completed on Saturday 4th February alongside the county matches at K2 Crawley. Thirty-four kids competed for medal positions in Band A and B events in both the morning and afternoon while 10 of their county team mates competed in the Cadet County Championships.
The East Sussex Schools individual championships were held at St Leonards Academy on Wednesday 1st February. There was a great atmosphere and 50 players involved. The winners now have an opportunity to go on to the national schools table tennis individuals finals.

High performing TT youngsters in the North Sussex area can apply to funding schemes in their area designed to meet the needs of emerging young talented sportspeople.
The West Sussex Schools TT Association is promoting its 2011-12 individual championships which will run on 18th February at Warden Park School, Cuckfield, 10am-4pm. Winners will go on to represent West Sussex at the Dome in Doncaster on 21st April.
Westlake House on Pondtail Road, Horsham is the latest residential care home to get the ping pong bug under Horsham District Council's Silver Pingers project. Seven of their residents participated using the equipment that Council staff imported for the morning.
Sussex County Table Tennis Association is running a 2 Star Senior tournament on the 26th February 2012 at K2 Leisure Centre, Crawley. The tournament is sponsored by Heritage Oil, Ray Hole Architects, Griffin Security & Technology and Tees Sports.
